Enscape is fantastic for simulating different lighting conditions for residential building projects! Here’s how you can use it to explore natural and artificial lighting at different times of day: Simulating Natural Daylight (Sun Position) Time of Day Slider In Enscape’s real-time rendering window, use the “Shift + Right Mouse Button + Drag” control to quickly change the time of day. Moving the mouse left-right changes the hour, and up-down adjusts the sun’s altitude, creating realistic daylight scenarios (sunrise, noon, sunset, etc.). Location and Date Settings In the Enscape Visual Settings panel (Settings > Atmosphere), you can specify the project’s geographic location, date, and time. This ensures the sun angle and intensity are accurate to your project site. Dynamic Shadows and Sunlight Realistic shadows and light transitions for morning, midday, evening, and night. Great for analyzing how direct sunlight and shading from neighboring structures or trees affect the building. Simulating Artificial Lighting (Interior and Exterior) Lighting Fixtures Place lighting elements (e.g., ceiling lights, wall sconces, garden lights) directly in your 3D modeling software. Enscape reads these lights and renders them in real-time. Light Settings Adjust light color temperature, brightness, and IES profiles for photometric accuracy. Experiment with different light types (spot, point, linear) for various effects, like warm cozy indoor lighting or bright task lighting. Atmospheric Conditions for Mood Clouds, Fog, and Haze In the Enscape Visual Settings (Atmosphere tab), adjust cloud coverage and atmospheric fog to simulate overcast or misty mornings, creating a different vibe. Skybox/HDRI Swap the skybox with a custom HDRI to simulate specific weather conditions or unique skies. HDRIs also affect the light intensity and color for a more immersive feel.
